ART Is it just me or does Tom Sachs [left] look a lot like David Eigenberg [right] of Sex in the City?

Eriko Yamada

ART Eriko Yamada is a very talented illustrator who has been working on a set of silkscreen prints based on Japanese mythology. We took a silkscreen class together and I must say she is extremely detailed and patient. Each print consists of probably 50 runs!

Yayoi Kusama

ART The beautiful art work by Yayoi Kusama seem so youthful, fun, and charming. However, it wasn’t until I did some research about her did I find out that these polka dots didn’t come from a merry place but from hallucinations and severe obsessive thoughts.

ART Check out this metal sculpture of Avant Garde by artist Damien Roach. The sculpture is especially interesting at different angles.

SOEX

ART Southern Exposure is an awesome organization who reaches out to diverse audiences, and serves as a forum and resource center for Bay Area’s arts and educational communities. I just received a lovely limited edition print (designed MendeDesign and Volume Inc.) announcing their new building project. They are currently seeking donations to fund the project.

Peter Saville

ART Peter Saville found these “In course of arrangement” signs at museums really interesting and has turned that into a piece of art in itself. I think it’s awesome that graphic designers are able to do work in both the design and fine arts field. It’s always interesting to see what a graphic designer can bring to the table.

ART Sol LeWitt: A Wall Drawing Retrospective comprises 105 of LeWitt’s large-scale wall drawings, spanning the artist’s career from 1969 to 2007. It’s showing at the Massachusetts Museum of Modern Art. Wish I could be there!

Herb and Dorothy

FILMS This couple is absolutely adorable. It’s amazing how with a postal clerk and librarian salary they can manage to build one of the most important contemporary arts collections in history. They truly redefined the meaning of being an art collector.
