FINDINGS Don’t forget to nominate and vote for this year’s Cooper Hewitt People’s Design Award. I quickly browsed through the selection…not sure which one I will vote for just yet. And for those of you in NY…there will be free admission to Cooper Hewitt for National Design Week, October 18—24.
FINDINGS My friend, Alyson, has just set up shop over at her lovely blog, Felt and Wire. It’s a curated collection of goods by superstar designers. Some products from Chen Design, Michael Osborne, and Adams Morioka just to name a few.
FINDINGS I grew up loving Sesame Street. There was something so magical about a world filled with friendly muppets, nice neighbors, and fun adventures. It’s amazing what Sesame Street does to educate children throughout the world. It’s not just about learning your ABCs but it’s about learning and coping with world issues.
FINDINGS It might be a possibility that Abstract Expressionist, Jackson Pollock, hid his name amid brush strokes of his legendary 1943 mural. It always fascinates me when artists leave behind messages in their paintings…giving us subtle clues into their life story.

FINDINGS I’ve come across plenty of Asian, musical prodigies. However, these two young ladies definitely stand out to me. Keep in mind these girls are only 11 & 14. I give them mad props for having the guts to speak at the Ted Conference…and I must say they did a great job.
FINDINGS Here’s a short little quiz to get you through a long Tuesday. You can test your ability to tell Arial and Helvetica apart. I missed 3! Shame on me.
FINDINGS I was talking to a friend who works at SOEX the other day and she mentioned about this project by The San Francisco Arts Commission. Artists and designers will be creating temporary art installations into 10 vacant storefront windows throughout the city. And of course, I find out that the nice peeps from MINE™ will be designing a window of their own. How fun!
FINDINGS While I was doing a little research on the idea of crowd-sourcing I came across this article at Fast Company. Apparently, the ad agency Cripsin Porter & Bogusky crowd-sourced a logo design for a motorcycle company, Brammo. It’s one thing if your crowd-sourcing for a logo if you’re not in the creative field…but it’s blasphemy if your crowd-sourcing and you consider yourself a “creative”. Don’t you think they’re devaluing what we do as designers? Maybe it’s all just a publicity stunt…but still!
