ART Jackson Pollock is best known for his rhythmic drip paintings. This website allows you to play around and create your own digital version of a Pollock masterpiece. It’s interesting to see what abstract shapes are created, however, I still prefer getting down and dirty with the actual paint. Art is all about that hands-on experience with the medium.

Film Freedom on the Fence is a documentary film about the fascinating history of Polish posters and the role they played in the social, political, and cultural life of Poland. The film is scheduled for release in Fall of 2008.

Graphic Design I was just watching a documentary on KQED and the name Bea Feitler came up. I decided to google her name and i’m extremely happy to have come across her work. I’m always so excited to learn about powerful female figures who have helped to shape the graphic design industry. Her eye for aesthetics and passion for design helped to build the visual identity of Harper’s Bazaar, Ms., Rolling Stone, and Vanity Fair. I wonder what she would think now of magazine design and of the not-so-impressive magazine covers we see crowding our newstands everday.
Art Wataru Komachi is a Tokyo based artist who just finished his ‘Fuck Forever’ exhibition at the Calm & Punk gallery. Through his use of collage he attempts to re-grasp the idea of simple artistic expression while at the same time illustrating the theme of a chaotic world. I wish I had found out about this exhibit earlier! Something about neon typography fascinates me.
Typography Here’s a great documentation of the “dog vs. god” typography workshop that was held in Pforzheim, Germany March 2008. The workshop aimed to illustrate the phenomenon where people tend to hear what they want to hear and dismiss the rest.
Graphic Design I just came across an amazing selection of work by Christina Foellmer. I especially love the work she created for an exhibition at the Frankfurt bookfair. This project was awarded the Art Directors Club Germany Award 2007, and the Junior Prize of the German Book-Art Foundation 2006.
