GRAPHIC DESIGN I just recently visited the IDEO site again and apparently they’ve done a revamp of their website. IDEO is an amazing design firm that has really redefined the way design should be and their slogan says it all, “We create impact through design”.

chrissie abbott
ILLUSTRATION Chrissie is a London based illustrator who’s got some really rockin’ work. Her use of geometric shapes and colors really gives her illustrations a lot of charm. Check out her “Dream Machine” & “The Memory Book” projects. They remind me of Peter Max’s work from the 70s.
giant artists
ETC Giant Artist is an agency that represents photographers, illustrators, designers, filmmakers, and one stylist. I got a chance to look at their portfolio today at work and might I say…they’ve got some really sharp photographers!

GRAPHIC DESIGN I just came back from a week long design workshop held by Paul Sahre, James Victore, and Jan Wilker! I can definitely say that these guys are on the top of my “people with brilliant minds who are super nice” list. The things I learned from these guys might sound cliche but these lessons are put in a whole different perspective when it is taught by these great designers/people. James: Don’t change for anybody. Jan: Work hard and then work even harder. Paul: Speak up!
boring
BOOKS Zach, the author of Boring boring boring boring boring boring boring was so kind to let me take a look at his new book! What makes this book stand out amongst many others is its beautiful hybrid of typography and imagery. I absolutely enjoy how Zach has broken the strict typographic traditions of mass produced books and as a result, created a book that can also be called an art piece. The book contains atleast 100 different typefaces! I feel like a kid in a candyshop. *drooling* Get your copy now at Featherproof!
wattis
EXHIBITION I just received some really nicely designed invitations to upcoming exhibitions curated by CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts. The Wattis was established in 1998 in San Francisco at California College of the Arts and serves as a forum for the presentation and discussion of international contemporary art and curatorial practice.
greg lamarche
ART Greg Lamarche has some awesome typographic collages. A lot of his vibrant work remind me of my all time favorite designer, Alan Fletcher.
amy stein
PHOTOGRAPHY Amy’s work tends to explore the evolving isolation from community, culture, and the environment. Her photographs aren’t just beautiful but they all have a very strong conceptual foundation. Just the way I like it.
