MARGARET BOURKE-WHITE

PHOTOGRAPHY Margaret Bourke-White was a forerunner in the field of photojournalism who had the ability to capture emotional moments of American history. Margaret was a woman of many firsts. In 1929, she became the first photographer for Fortune magazine and was the first Western photographer to be allowed into the Soviet Union. She was the first female photojournalist for Life magazine and the first female war correspondent to be allowed to work in combat zones during World War II.
