Crowd-sourcing

FINDINGS While I was doing a little research on the idea of crowd-sourcing I came across this article at Fast Company. Apparently, the ad agency Cripsin Porter & Bogusky crowd-sourced a logo design for a motorcycle company, Brammo. It’s one thing if your crowd-sourcing for a logo if you’re not in the creative field…but it’s blasphemy if your crowd-sourcing and you consider yourself a “creative”. Don’t you think they’re devaluing what we do as designers? Maybe it’s all just a publicity stunt…but still!

Public glass

EVENTS Public Glass is a great nonprofit organization that was created to meet the needs of Bay Area artists working in hot glass, specifically glass blowing and casting by providing them with a great facility and gallery space. They will be holding their annual Hot Glass & Cold Beer, tomorrow 9/12 from 6-10 PM. You can tour the space, drink some beer, and watch featured artist Ferdinand Thierot sculpt glass. I took a beginners class at Public Glass and this was the ugly paper weight I made. I now have a new found respect for glass paperweights. They’re so hard to make!

Kleber Design

WEBSITE Check out the awesome web design portfolio of Kleber Design. I really enjoy how they treat a web project just like how they would treat any print project. The websites are well organized, user friendly, have strong hierarchy, have a well developed grid system, and of course are really lovely to look at.
